Committee Summary

Topic: The Louvre Heist (2025)

Committee Summary: On October 19, 2025, a group of thieves successfully executed one of the most high-profile, high-ticket heists in modern history: the theft of eight pieces of the French Crown Jewels from Paris’ iconic Louvre. As of December 2025, the bejeweled treasures, valued at $102 million USD, remain at large as law enforcement agencies continue to investigate the culprits. However, while the authorities are desperate to locate and return the jewels, this heist has also reinvigorated conversations surrounding repatriation and ownership in the art world. The colonial origins of the stolen pieces have led many to question who the rightful owners should be, and thus to whom the pieces should be returned. In this committee, delegates will act as members of the French police, INTERPOL, the Louvre staff, art dealers, and cultural history experts. Using their cunning and creativity to decipher clues, delegates will race to find the stolen jewels while protecting the rest of the city’s valuable art as the Louvre robbers continue their stealing spree. The delegates must also use their unique backgrounds and expert knowledge to decide the future fate of the stolen jewels, grappling with the enduring legacies of colonialism and imperialism in the art world. Now, who’s ready for the first Louvre clue?

Meet The Staff

Tess Kaefer

Chair

Dear Delegates,

Welcome to LAMUN XXI! My name is Tess Kaefer (she/her) and I am so excited to serve as your chair and welcome you to Louvre’s Clues: The Louvre Heist, 2025!

I am currently in my third and final year here at UCLA studying Psychology and Anthropology. I am currently working on applying to graduate schools to pursue a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy, after a much needed gap year. I am originally from the Bay Area (Gilroy Garlic!!) and can’t wait to get back to NorCal. Outside of classes, you can often find me trying new coffee shops around LA with my roomie, at the gym, painting, rewatching my favorite sitcoms, and playing an insane amount of WordHunt.

I am a recent Model UN convert, at the request of my roommate who lives and breathes MUN. I joined MUN at UCLA in my second year and have had the pleasure of staffing our high school conference, BruinMUN, and LAMUN. Model UN at UCLA has introduced me to the world of people who enjoy public speaking, and has forced me to come out of my shell and join them. I have had so many wonderful times with the MUN community and cherish all of the friendships and memories I have made.

This committee will dive straight into one of the most high-profile art crimes of the modern era. In the immediate aftermath of the Louvre robbery, delegates will work as Paris police, INTERPOL officials, Louvre staff, and international art dealers to recover the stolen treasures, investigate the culprits, and repair critical security failures across Paris’s museums. I look forward to seeing where you take this weekend and can’t wait to see your creativity!

With Louvre,

Tess Kaefer

Katie Adamick

Crisis Director

Dear Delegates,

Hello! My name is Katie Adamick (she/her) and I’m super excited to be your Crisis Director for Louvre’s Clues: The Louvre Heist, 2025! I’m a fourth year majoring in Psychology and History with a minor in Brain and Behavioral Health, hoping to attend law school or pursue a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. Outside of Model UN, I’m a research assistant in the Child OCD, Anxiety, and Tic Disorders Program at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience. Beyond classes and clubs, I love reading, watercolor painting, swimming, and trying new coffee shops. In no particular order, some of my greatest sources of joy include mystery books, sea otters, 80s rock music, everything bagels, and the Great British Baking Show!

My Model UN journey first began in my sophomore year of high school when I joined my school’s club as an opportunity to strengthen my public speaking skills. Since joining Model UN at UCLA, I’ve had the great delight of meeting so many wonderful people and learning more about global affairs. I first staffed crisis committees during my sophomore year at UCLA, and I’ve loved them ever since! Over the past two years, I’ve had the pleasure of serving as a Crisis Director for our BruinMUN and LAMUN conferences, most recently for the JCC: Kingdom of the Fairy Godmother at LAMUN XX and the LEGO Board of Directors committee at BruinMUN 33.

Now for the intrigue and enigma! The Louvre robbers shocked the world on October 19, 2025, stealing $102 million worth of jewels from the museum’s Apollo Gallery in broad daylight. As of December 2025, this case continues to baffle law enforcement agencies as the stolen jewels remain at large. This is where you all come in! As experts in art, cultural history, or crime-solving, you will collaborate to locate the stolen items, identify the culprits, and discuss topics of repatriation, access, and ownership in the art world. I look forward to seeing you all bring this committee to life with your brilliance and creativity. See you at LAMUN!

With mystery and mischief,

Katie Adamick
