Committee Summary

Topic: Gossip Girl Upper East Side

Committee Summary: Welcome to Gossip Girl, where every secret is fair game, and no scandal shall stay hidden for long. This year, the Press Corps invites you into the deceptively glamorous world of New York’s elite. As members of the Upper East Side, you’ll take on the roles of Serena, Blair, Chuck, Nate, and more: iconic figures in a world driven by power, influence, and drama. Your mission? Uncover the juiciest secrets, craft explosive gossip articles, and send them straight to Gossip Girl, who tells the world.

In this committee, there’s no room for privacy. As you gather intel and expose the lies of those around you, your writing will shake LAMUN to its core. The more sensational, the better! Each report you submit will not only fuel the gossip machine but also impact the course of events of other committees across the entire conference.

But remember, Gossip Girl watches everything, knows everything, and will expose it all; no one can control where the next scandal leads. In this world, it’s all about who knows what, when, and how. One thing’s for sure: no secret is safe when Gossip Girl is on the case. XOXO.

Meet The Staff

Sahiti Vallabhaneni

Chair

Hello Delegates!

My name is Sahiti Vallabhaneni, and I am thrilled to be your chair for Press Corps: Gossip Girl: Blindsides & Blind Items at LAMUN XXI!

I’m currently a third-year student majoring in Applied Mathematics here at UCLA, with plans to minor in Statistics and Data Science, specializing in Computing. I am deeply passionate about research, and after graduation, I hope to pursue a career in data science, focusing on applying machine learning to address real-world problems. I’m a real global citizen - I was born in India, raised in Kuwait, and now call Dubai a home. My diverse upbringing offered me a unique perspective on the world, and as a result, I can converse comfortably in more than 4 languages. My journey with Model UN began in high school, where it introduced me to some of my closest friends, and made me part of a wonderful organization which I eventually went on to serve as President. At UCLA, I have had the opportunity to serve as a crisis staffer, dias staffer, and chairperson for both our high school and collegiate conferences. I also compete at conferences across the country as a member of UCLA’s competitive travel team. When I’m not attending Model UN meetings and socials, enduring 16-hour flights back home, or tackling the horrors of discrete math, you’ll find me playing badminton, trying new matcha spots with my friends, or catching up on my 170 webtoons (all of which update weekly!).

The Press Corps is the most specialized of the specialized committees, featuring new themes and unique ROP every year. This year, our committee will immerse you in the glamorous, scandal-filled world of Gossip Girl, a fan-favourite TV show that follows NYC’s wealthiest teens. Canonically, Gossip girl is a blogger who spills the secrets of high society, receiving anonymous tips from other characters. In this committee, delegates will have the opportunity to play these characters, feeding information from across LAMUN directly to Gossip girl, while seeing their writing influence the course of other committees. I am immensely excited to chair this one-of-a-kind committee, and aim to provide you an unforgettable experience.

Welcome to the Upper East Side! All the best! XOXO,

Sahiti Vallabhaneni
